Expunged CaseA case that has been removed from the public record, usually by court order, and is not viewable.
Sealed CaseA case that has been sealed by court order, and is not viewable.
Confidential CaseCertain cases are made confidential by statute or court order, so they are only viewable by certain users. Some cases are confidential until certain events occur, due to safety concerns for involved parties.
Public DocumentAny document that does not fall under a confidentiality statute and has been redacted to remove any confidential information. These documents are available for viewing by the general public.
Confidential DocumentAny document that falls under a confidentiality statute and is therefore only viewable by certain users.
Sealed DocumentAny document that has been sealed by court order, therefore it is only viewable by certain users.
RedactionThe process by which confidential information is removed from a document, using a black bar to hide the information. Examples of redacted information include bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, and credit card numbers.
Viewable on Request Document (VOR)The process used for certain case types where documents contain additional confidential information that must be removed manually. Once manually redacted through the VOR process, these documents are available for viewing by the general public.
